Winters Home
Bea flopped down on her bed at home, dinner was almost ready. Her sister, Shiloh wandered in, "Have a good practice?" she asked as she sat down in Bea's desk chair. Bea nodded, " Yeah, it was pretty decent. We did good today, better than most would have have thought at least." Shiloh nodded, playing cats cradle with some string she'd had in her pocket. " Anything interesting happen?"
Bea snorted once, "You remember that really annoying guy I told you about? The one that practically stalked me while we were at Disney?" Her sister snickered, "The cute one? Yeah."
"You don't know that he's cute." Bea pointed out. "He sounds cute," justified Shiloh, "Anyways you were saying..."
"He lives here."
Shiloh almost toppled out of the chair, "Here here? Or here in the state here?" She moved over to the bed, pushing Bea to make room, "Tell."
Bea rolled her eyes and made room for her, "He lives over at Fort Meade."
Shiloh considered that for a minute, "Fortunate coincidence." "Uh-huh," Bea replied, not entirely convinced. " So he comes up to me today."
"Oh dear, what did you say to the poor guy?"
"Nothing...much," Bea replied, slightly defensively. Shiloh's eyes gleamed slightly, "Tell." She poked her sister in the side. Bea shot her twin an annoyed look, "No."
"Tell," Shiloh persisted, poking her again.
"I don't want to."
Shiloh looked at her sister critically for a moment, and then grinning, she pointed out, " You're blushing."
"Am not." Bea defended.
"Are too," Shiloh smiled smugly.
"Am not!"
"Look in the mirror if you don't believe me."
Before Bea could think up a scathing reply, the phone rang. She picked it up, telling her sister, "Hold on." She spoke into the phone, "Yes?"
"Hello is this Bea?" The voice on the other end of the line asked.
"Yes...who's this?" Bea replied, making a face at Shiloh.
"Hey! It's Nick, from earlier at the base?"
"Go hifreann leat! How did you get this number?" Bea demanded. Shiloh made a face back at her sister and edged closer so that she could hear better. "Is that him?" she mouthed at Bea who just waved her off.
"Called your band director and told him you left something here and that if he gave me your phone number, I'd see about getting it back to you."
Bea swore under his breath, "Bloody Brookes." Shiloh's eyes danced with mirth, "It is him!" She grinned. Bea stuck out her tongue at her twin.
Nick's voice continued, "So I was wondering..."
"No."
"I hadn't finished yet."
"It's still no," Bea replied firmly. Shiloh shook her head at her sister. Bea was going to wreck this totally if she didn't do something. Quickly, she grabbed for the phone. Bea yelped as she tried to dive out of the way unsuccessfully. Shiloh managed to wrangle the phone away from her and after a brief tussle wound up half sitting on her to get her twin to be still, grinning down at Bea once, she heard the voice on the other end going, "Hello? Are you still there? hello?" She raised the phone to her ear, "Yep she is, , but she had to pop out for a moment. I'm her sister, Shiloh."
"Hi, I'm Nick."
"The cute guy stalker from Disney."
"Um...yeah, wait she said I was cute?"
Shiloh explained, "Actually that was me, but I wouldn't be surprised if she felt the same way."
Bea struggled slightly, "Gerroff me!" she muttered.
"Okay, before Bea gets back, is there any advice you'd give for a guy who honestly likes her and wants to see if she'll ever let him in."
"Don't hide from her," Shiloh replied instantly, "don't hold back or out on her, also develop a thick skin."
"Oookay, thanks." He remarked.
"You're welcome, bye! Gotta go before she murders me!" Shiloh said, dropping the phone by Bea and bolting out of the room.
Bea snarled once, before picking up the phone again. "Yes?" She growled.
"So I wanted to know what you were doing this next weekend?" he asked, putting a bit of charm into his voice.
"No...I mean yes! Yes I am. Band practice, can't get out of it." She said hurriedly.
"The entire weekend?" He inquired amusedly.
"Yep. Totally sucks, oh well that's life. Gotta go, dinner time, bye." She hung up the phone and hid her face in her hands briefly before vowing to kill her twin.
